4) Banyan Tree Mayakoba
Check out Banyan Tree Mayakoba, an outstanding accommodation close to Playa del Carmen, if you’re searching for a unique experience that you can’t have anywhere else on Earth. Banyan Tree Mayakoba is one of only three overwater bungalow resorts in Mexico; the other two are the close-by Palafitos El Dorado Resort and the even closer-by Rosewood Mayakoba. This resort is just a handful of upscale getaways near Playa del Carmen.
They are all double rooms with king-sized beds and appear to be quite roomy; they total 2400 square feet (222 square meters) over two stories.
On their terrace, they have a plunge pool with views of the lagoon. They offer exceptionally excellent bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs as a standard feature.
The overwater villas share the resort’s guiding principle of peace with nature yet have a sleek modern style. Most of the décor and furnishings are made of wood or other organic materials, and the numerous native Yucatan potted plants enhance the rustic, jungle-like atmosphere.
Since only 6 of these highly anticipated overwater villas exist, you should expect to be let down if you don’t make reservations far in advance. The Banyan Tree provides a wide range of luxurious lodging options, including some of the best in the Cancun region, and all with private pools, in case they do wind up being sold out.
Facilities Provided
The Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón Golf Course is accessible to Banyan Tree guests, and the resort’s world-class spa facilities have garnered several accolades and honors.
It offers a variety of restaurants, from fine dining to more casual options, serving a diverse spectrum of cuisine, from Thai and worldwide to traditional Mayan and modern Mexican dishes. Particularly noteworthy and bountiful is their fish.

5) Anthony’s Key Resort
Anthony’s Key Resort is the ideal choice amongst tourists, especially the honeymooners who want all-inclusive resorts for an affordable vacation and dream of staying in an overwater bungalow. It is situated on the northwest coast of Roatan Island and overlooks the Caribbean Sea.
For fans of the Caribbean, Roatan is a favorite vacation because of its stunning beaches and azure oceans. The beachside family-run resort welcomes couples, families, and honeymooners with rates that start at around $570 per night for two individuals. It offers bungalows on a hillside covered in rainforest and an offshore key accessed by taxi boat.
Beautiful views of the aquamarine ocean and Anthony’s Key, a 10-acre island where most of the resort’s villas and guest rooms are situated, can be seen from the upper levels. A brief trip on the water shuttle, which runs continuously throughout the day, is required to get to Anthony’s Key. Sandy walkways are accented by orange, lime, and almond trees and a canopy of tall palms.
The lovely oceanfront is where the restaurant and diving shop are located. It sounds like a city of neoprene in the mornings and afternoons as a dozen boats load up their cargo, compressors hiss, and divers get ready to go. The resort’s lobby, restaurant, and central bar are located on a green hillside and are only accessible through slick stairways (though the payoff is the ocean view).
Facilities Provided
The resort has a stunning freshwater pool flanked by lounge chairs and towering palm trees on Anthony’s Key. The bar offers happy hour drink discounts and has one of the few TVs in the hotel right next to the pool. On the island, Ixora Spa also offers massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and waxing services. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are provided without charge.

6) Thatch Caye Resort
Overwater villas and island cabanas are available at Belize’s Thatch Caye Resort, a private island resort with all-inclusive amenities. The resort is on its private island off the coast of Dangriga, Belize.
It takes 25 minutes by speedboat to reach this stunning private island paradise with overwater bungalows, from the Belizean mainland. It has an organic feel and a sort of barefoot chic attitude. It only has room for 30 guests at a time, so it also seems small and exclusive while maintaining a warm, social environment. Thatch Caye offers a wide range of activities, so you may choose to have an active or leisurely day.
Beach cabanas and overwater bungalows are your options. The latter is split into Standard and Premium units, with the Standard teams consisting of three bungalows that are almost next to one another close off the coast. Therefore, if privacy is what you’re looking for, they’re not great. But if reserved jointly, they may be ideal for a group of friends.
On the other side, the luxurious overwater bungalows provide a tonne of seclusion. They seem incredibly isolated since they have their private pathway, even though they are essentially identical inside to the conventional bungalows.
Despite not being huge, they are each 320 sq. ft. of well-decorated, quite comfortable space, including an outside terrace. Beach cabanas are available on land in three categories: Standard, Premier, and Penthouse, with the last being the most luxurious and pricey. With a floor area of 441 square feet, it is the biggest and has a terrace with views of the vast ocean.
A staggering variety of exotic marine species, including sharks, starfish, manta rays, manatees, turtles, and much more, can be found on the island since it is situated at the edge of the second-largest barrier reef in the world.
There are at least three little, adorable beaches on the island, which are narrow and pretty small, so you can easily walk from one end to the other in less than an hour. The island also contains woodland paths where you can watch for some local species.
Facilities Provided
Visitors like the food at Thatch Caye’s three restaurants, cafés, and bars, and much of the items come from their organic gardens. Every day begins with a made-to-order breakfast that includes a wide variety of tropical fruits and juices, strong coffee, foreign favorites, and more Belizean options.
Breakfast is offered in the Coco Lounge, and afternoon, one of the resort’s other locations, The Grove, opens. Full meals and a variety of smaller snacks are all available there, and you can also order food to be delivered to you for use on excursions, boat trips, picnics, etc.
The Starfish Bar and Coco Lounge serve food and beverages late into the night. There isn’t much wild partying here, but a good-natured, amiable, and social attitude exists. The resort enjoys taking care of its visitors, and the cooks are always happy to accommodate any dietary needs or preferences. You may spend many joyful hours exploring the island or simply relaxing by the resort’s natural saltwater pool or in your hammock.

7) Rosewood Mayakoba
Rosewood Mayakoba is also an adult-only luxury overwater bungalow option that offers the same tranquil Caribbean coast environment, premium lodging, services, and amenities, including its award-winning spa.
Although it draws a large number of wealthy visitors, this upscale resort doesn’t have a lot of elitism. Throughout, there is a laid-back and welcoming vibe. The resort includes 129 sleek, contemporary suites and villas that range in size from 780 square feet to 1500 square feet and have the finest interior design.
Their overwater bungalows, or Deluxe Lagoon Suites as they are known, may let you down a little compared to those at the Palafitos resorts nearby because they are not entirely over water and have lagoon views rather than sea views.
The Deluxe Overwater Lagoon Suite is placed above the green lagoon and is perfect for honeymooners and couples. A walk-in closet, a king bed, a lavish bathroom with an outdoor garden shower, a cozy lounge patio with a plunge pool, and breathtaking views of the lagoon and mangroves are all included in this one-of-a-kind Playa del Carmen lodging.
WiFi, satellite TV, DVD players, iPod docks, Bose audio systems, personal butlers, and round-the-clock room service are available amenities.
The bungalows can accommodate a maximum of two people and are adults-only, even though the remainder of the resort is family-friendly. They offer 977 square feet of internal space and 498 square feet of private patio outside, which includes an infinity-style plunge pool (that can be heated, rather unnecessarily, perhaps).
Facilities Provided
Although Rosewood Mayakoba’s overwater bungalows, like most locations, are reserved for adults only, the resort overall is family-friendly; there is even a kids club, and kids are welcome in the other suites and villas.
This area offers several excellent dining options, including Agave Azul, which specializes in Asian-influenced fish dishes, and Caso del Lago, which provides Italian cuisine with a Mexican touch. While Aqui Mi Quedo provides Mexican and Caribbean street cuisine, has a relaxed bar-like environment, and is exclusively open to adults, Punta Bonita is a Mexican restaurant.
Most of the ingredients used in this restaurant’s traditional Yucutan cuisine, which emphasizes Mayan open flame cooking methods, are fresh from the kitchen garden next door. The venue is set up so visitors can engage in an interactive experience by participating in culinary demos, cocktail-making classes, and different tasting events. Bespoke meals may also be arranged from any of the mentioned restaurants, in private, intimate settings across the resort, or, if you prefer, in your room or villa.

These stunning over-the-water villas fully immerse the magnificent blue seas and abundant marine life below and offer an intimate connection to the Caribbean Sea. You can always take in views of the ocean thanks to the glass floor panels and lighted water.
Following the success of its over-the-water accommodations in Jamaica, Sandals swiftly turned its attention to St. Lucia, where you can find the same standards of luxury and service at the all-inclusive, adults-only Sandals Grande resort.
Since only nine exist, their overwater bungalows—a popular choice for honeymooners—are frequently reserved months in advance. Among other unique amenities, they have glass floor panels that let you see directly into the Caribbean, tranquillity soaking tubs, private patios, and over-the-water hammocks.
The resort provides several lodging options, with the overwater accommodations above unquestionably being the most well-liked. With hardwood flooring, soaring ceilings, king-size mattresses with rich linens and plush pillows, smart TVs, sun decks, outdoor showers, opulent bathrooms, and round-the-clock personal butler service, they offer a vast, opulent vibe.
Many of the alternative options are equally as stylish and sophisticated as the overwaters, if not more so, without the novelty of having the ocean right beneath your feet.
Facilities Provided

They may pick from a variety of luxurious lodging options, including rooms, suites, and over-the-water bungalows and villas, all of which provide varying degrees of privacy, luxury, and space.
Their 1,100 square foot over water villas are opulent and lavish, with inside glass floor panels, beautiful spa-style bathrooms, personal butler service, and an exclusive in-room dining and room service menu. They also include outside sun decks with soaking tubs and overwater hammocks.
